Dodd-Frank has swept through the banking world, upending old practices and mandating new ones in virtually every corner of the industry. Lawmakers targeted disclosures and advertising in particular, resulting in new requirements for home mortgages and consumer loans. Standard advertising practices are no longer viable and the risks that ads will trigger UDAP or Fair Lending violations have never been higher. You need to understand how these new rules affect what you can say, what you must say carefully, and what you can’t say at all about different credit products. In this comprehensive banking compliance session, compliance expert Millie Jordan will explain changes in the advertising rules for:

  • Closed-end home-secured loans;
  • Open-end home-secured loans; and
  • Open-end non-home-secured loans

Her detailed overview will cover, among other topics:

  • New requirements for payment and rate comparisons
  • “Trigger terms” and the disclosures they require
  • Restrictions on using the term “fixed” to describe rates or payments
  • New requirements for HELOC ads, including special requirements for:
    • Balloon payments, and
    • Promotional rates or payments
