BIO: J. Scott Gupton
J. Scott Gupton is Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Sumner Bank and Trust, Gallatin, TN. Gupton serves as a senior executive officer whose responsibilities include overseeing bank operations, accounting, financial reporting, facilities, information technology, compliance, vendor management and auditing functions. This is the second de novo bank for which he has been involved. Prior to joining Sumner Bank and Trust, Scott’s diverse banking experience included operations management, relationship management and lending as well as some of his current responsibilities, at a state wide commercial bank, a large national bank and a midsized community bank.
He is a graduate of the University of TN at Knoxville with a BS in Business Administration and Marketing. He is also a graduate of The Southeastern School of Banking at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. Scott has spoken to industry groups on remote capture, merchant capture and branch capture strategies, risk assessment and risk management. He has co-authored 2 publications, has spoken at financial industry conferences and has served as an expert witness on financial industry matters.
BIO: Karen Freeman
Karen Freeman is a Vice-President & Marketing Director of Sumner Bank and Trust, Gallatin, TN. Freeman is responsible for managing the creative process associated with Sumner Bank & Trust’s campaigns and collateral. She has assisted in creating the bank’s cultural framework including the implementation of innovate banking programs & techniques designed to push SB & T above its peers. Karen is a member of the bank’s commercial sales team with expertise in areas concerning cash management and deposit account solutions. Prior to joining Sumner Bank and Trust, Freeman managed marketing efforts for a state-wide commercial bank. She holds a BA in Communications.
