Regional and community banks face increasing pressure to raise capital, both to position the banks for the future and to meet new regulatory requirements. Not all strategies are equally effective as means to raise and deploy capital, however. How should an institution develop its strategy? What questions are top of mind for potential investors today? Do investors favor certain uses of proceeds over others? The speakers will address these and other important topics that affect banks now. Speaker James Bauerle is a veteran adviser to regional and community banks, who has helped clients raise over $250 million of capital during the last decade. Speaker Christopher Chenoweth is a veteran of the West Coast banking scene as an executive of the California Bankers Association and currently as Chief Administrative Officer of Fremont Bank.
- The recent banking crisis has attracted a whole new class of potential investors to regional and community banks. What are these investors looking for? Are they right for your bank? What alternatives are available other than registered public share offerings?
- Whole bank acquisitions have recently depleted capital of the acquiring banks. How can banks prevent this from occurring when pursuing growth?
- Technology companies have used the backbone of the banking system to build their businesses without paying to support that backbone. What tools do banks have to level the playing field? Do regional and community banks have any particular advantages in dealing with technology companies?
