Today’s Overdraft Requirements and Expectations for All Financial Institutions

Webinar

2 PM CT

Presenter: Amy Avitable, Mark Groves

Duration: 1 hour

Price: $249 / $199 (for Affiliation Members)

The FDIC’s recent final rule on automated overdraft payment programs has more to it than meets the eye. Even financial institutions not supervised by the FDIC should pay attention- you can expect your examiners are. It not only provides guidance on overdraft program compliance issues in general but it “reminds” you about other requirements such as prohibitions against discrimination, risks to consumers, safety and soundness expectations, and practices that may be considered unfair and deceptive.

Join our industry experts Mark Groves and Amy Avitable to help you decipher this rule, what it means for your financial institution, and what you should be doing, including:

  • Monitoring your program for excessive or chronic customer use.
  • Reviewing your institution’s posting order to avoid maximizing customer overdrafts and related fees.
  • Reviewing the prohibition against unfair and deceptive acts and practices for all of your products and services, including automated overdraft payment programs.
  • Reviewing fair lending risks in your overdraft practices.
  • Mitigating risk associated with overdraft payment programs to protect the safety and soundness of your institution and the welfare of consumers.
