Matthew Hovis, CAMS, CFE, CPP, formerly BSA/AML Engagement Manager, has been announced as SC+S’ new Director of BSA/AML Services. Matt was previously VP/BSA Officer at a local bank near Boston with $3.3B in assets. He has extensive experience in Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, fraud management, financial crime investigations, and surveillance monitoring analytics. Matt is responsible for the quality and delivery of BSA audits and is a Certified Payments Professional (CPP), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Matt holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a M.S. in Economic Crime Management from Utica College. He is an expert in BSA/AML risk management and compliance, model validation, high risk products and services (e.g. marijuana banking, payment processing), business intelligence reporting, data analytics, system tuning, and suspicious activity monitoring and investigations. Matt has expertise with numerous anti-money laundering systems including Verafin, FiServ Financial Crimes Risk Manager, Patriot Officer, YellowHammer, FIS Prime, SAS, and BAM+.
